Thanks to Miriam at Hachette Book Group for the chance to review this book!
I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
Description: Peggy Adams makes an unusual agreement with Luke Sedgwick, the last scion of an old New England family. The deal: Stay married for a year, and the two will inherit the Sedgwick mansion in New Nineveh, a quaint, preppy Connecticut town. But entering Luke’s world isn’t easy. Peggy must quickly learn how to pass herself off as a proper Connecticut wife and a perfect WASP. (Hint: At parties, nobody actually eats the food.) To make matters worse, she finds herself falling in love with the man she’s married to—despite that he seems to have no feelings for her.
I will honestly admit that in the first half of the book I was struggling to keep reading but I would say if you are in the same boat keep reading because it is worth it! Luke’s character was a nice change from the usual handsome, always know what to say guy you find in a lot of chick lit books. He’s sort of bumbling in an endearing sort of way. Peggy on the other hand was probably one of the reasons I found the first half of the book difficult to read. She was wonderful with Luke’s aunt Abby but there was something about her I just did not care for. Maybe it’s the way she was passive aggressive until the very end. Though she disagreed with the way the other wives treated Tiffany, yes she turned down the offer to work with them on a committee, but she didn’t openly dispute the way they left Tiffany out. And yes, she liked Luke and was jealous of Nikki but she never even gave Luke an inkling that she liked him and would punish him by being rude, mean or ignoring him. Instead going out with another man and then waffling about Brock.
Like I said though the ending makes the book worth it as Peggy starts to grow on you and you are really rooting for the two of them to end up with a happily ever after moment and it’s hilarious hearing about the lifestyles of WASP cliques who don’t eat food at parties and are considered renegades if they paint their homes a color other than white.

LOL. When I’ve told people what I was reading they all assumed it was about insects.

I liked this book so much more than I thought I would. It was fun and I agree, Peggy really grew on me. It could be a darling movie.

It would be a cute movie – think it’s kinda been done with What Happens in Vegas.
I enjoyed your views on Peggy.

This sounds like a great summer read, full of romance, and exploring possibilities. I originally thought this book was actually about WASPS (yes, I’m that dumb LOL) so wasn’t very interested. But your review makes it sound great. Thanks so much!!
