Description: In “Jesus Swept,” 19-year-old Gary Gray discovers a mysterious silver bracelet on the shores of Myrtle Beach. The words engraved on the object transform him into a new Jesus overnight. Down-and-out hooligans Mark and Luke jump on his bandwagon, and the three young men work their way up the Carolina coast, sweeping floors for cash and spreading the good news to anyone who will listen. They lose the bracelet, which is found and re-found by raucous twins Hook and Sinker and married couple Liz and Frank. Then all hell breaks loose.www.JamesProtzman.com.

I have to admit I was a little leery when I first heard about this book as I am not religious and do not care much for preachy books.  I was surprised as I read further and further into this book.  The cast of characters you meet are completely unexpected.  Gary, Mark and Luke are three gay men who take turns being Jesus as they travel sweeping where ever they happen to be.  Hook is a surly and uncouth young girl who despite all the rough edges you can’t help come to like.   And it was hard to decide what to make of the married couple, Liz and Frank.  This book is an entertaining and light hearted story that ultimately comes down to a new philosophy of life and religion: “Do good, be nice and have fun”.
